Weekend Art Trails and Sculpture Trails have become popular annual or semi-annual arts event throughout New Zealand. Weekend Art Trails is an open studio tour on a set date that gives art enthusiasts the chance to see fine art and fine crafts in the making, and to purchase works directly from the people who create them in dozens of local communities. The show takes place in homes, studios, galleries, and other locations on weekends only.

Waitakere comes alive with arts over the weekend with thethe 6th annual Waitakere Artists' Open Studio weekend.
It takes place on Saturday and Sunday March 27 & 28, 2010 from 10am - 4pm. Over 100 artists from throughout Waitakere City will open their home studios or gather in cluster groups for the public to view their work, purchase art pieces and see artists in action.
